Helping Children Grow!

We support children in building a relationship with the forest and all it has to offer. Our programming is guided by the interests and the needs of children in a way that supports their development. We are a child-led, play-based and land-based program. We believe that connection with nature is important to the health and wellbeing of all peoples.

Sapling Forest School operates on the unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq and Beothuk Peoples. We acknowledge that, in Newfoundland, we benefit on and from land that was stolen and colonized. We are committed to Truth and Reconciliation with Qalipu First Nation. We acknowledge that our programs were founded in white-settler approaches to being on and with the land, developed by the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. In alignment with their work, we are actively working to centralize local Indigenous voices, perspectives and presence in our work with children on the land. We hope to strengthen our relationship with the land with the support and guidance of Qalipu First Nation.
